The East Bay needs your Leadership.
THE DETAILS:
What is The Organizing and Leadership Academy (TOLA)?
TOLA is an organizing institute. Its mission is to teach the next generation of leaders how to organize for positive change in our communities.
The Organizing and Leadership Academy trains organizers in a four-month intensive program in organizing and leadership. Taught by some of the sharpest minds in local, state and national politics, the four-month course includes several weeks of initial classroom and case-study training, but the focus of the Fellows program is experiential.
All TOLA Fellows will be assigned to at least one project for an extended period of time.
The project will be a campaign or organizing effort in the East Bay. While assigned to their project the TOLA Fellows will have classroom assignments and will be responsible for attending several TOLA seminars per week. Since this is a community organizing internship, the focus of the TOLA Fellows four-month term will be practical, hands-on learning—not theory.
How do I participate and still pay rent?
TOLA provides a living stipend/scholarship to all Fellows during the four-month TOLA program. The stipend/scholarship is $8,000 for the four-month commitment.
The Organizing and Leadership Academy is aimed at training tomorrow’s leaders. TOLA recruits a diverse class of highly qualified and motivated individuals. Key attributes include:
- Passion for community development
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- College education or commensurate life experience
- Ability to work with others
- Leadership abilities
